Morning Word Rush
By Don Iannone

Spastic fingers clumsily type
euphorically exotic word rushes
onto an unlined virtual page
like an out-of-control waterfall
spewing liquid rainbows
on thick droopy half-opened eyelids
sagging from an opium overdose
of early morning REM sleep.

Suddenly a poem appeared.

Perhaps you had been working at it in your sleep.
Have you been writing poetry long? Do you notice developments in style?
With music I sometimes feel I am getting nowhere -then all of a sudden I find I am on a new level.
I often get ideas at night....I am vaguely aware of them in half-sleep.

Comes like an unstoppable torrent Don.

I know that feeling!! Although, at that time of the morning, it's rarely "euphorically exotic words" I write... :)

Dan...thanks my awakened friend!

Rob...yes indeed, ideas percolate into my consciousness from my sleep. I think it's a natural thing most people experience. Post some of your music. Would love to hear it.

Rauf...I call you the photographic eye (I). It was indeed a torrent.

Blessings to all.
