Get Away from Yourself
By Don Iannone
Too much of the time
we live...within time,
as though the hands of the clock
have some real meaning in life.
Simply not so.
Fashion yourself a cloud,
floating high above earth.
Let yourself drift...in the wind,
let it carry you...far...away
from wherever you normally are.
Find a new space...in life;
one empty all resistance.
Let that space open...you
to new things you don't know.
Get away from yourself,
and get to know...who you really are.

beautiful
Kai...thank you for stopping by and sharing this comment.
thank u 4 ur comment:o)
You're welcome Kai.
By co-incidence I was thinking along these lines about two hours ago. I was listening to a documentary about Miles Davis: he would get his musicians to start afresh each time e.g. he told a guitarist to play as if he had never played the guitar before.
I began to think this would be a great principle in everyday life!
Rob,
Miles Davis is one of my favorites. Great musician. Can you play some of his music?
Thanks for stopping by.
Sounds like a good advice.
By the way, still no news about Kathy?
I don't wear a watch Don. I want to hold moments I loved, between my eyelids but they slip away.
breathed a sigh of relief with this one!
Ahhh, I can feel myself floating away as I type this. Life is all about new spaces.
Thank you for this, Don. Time, and scheduled adherence to it, is one of my greatest weaknesses. This is a beautiful vision you've presented, a wonderful meditation.
Thanks Imemine. No word from Kathy. She disappeared out of sight. Hope she's ok.
Rauf, good for you for not wearing a watch. That is why your photography is so beautiful--it's timeless.
The only way I know...welcome and hold that breath of relief.
Stacey, yes life is about new spaces for me as well. Keep creating them.
Mike, all of us tend to adhere to time (and for that matter space) too much. We are that beyond time and space as Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj reminds us in I am That.
I am only just beginning to take to Miles Davis. For a long time I was put off by his melancholy. I hope to write a post on "Kind of Blue" before too long.
He is like the Picasso of jazz in that he embraced so many styles.
Nice way to describe him! Excellent Rob.
"Fashion yourself a cloud" How unique!
Getting away from one self is a hard road to hoe, but it's possible. Yes, I too love Miles Davis, but only in moderation. I find blues stimulating, but too much of it can cause depression.
Amias,
Thanks. Yes indeed...a cloud...floating...high above it all! And yes, we need uplifting music too.
Don
