Your Music is Your Life
By Don Iannone
Your music is your life,
singing itself to you.
Not the same tune for everyone,
but the one you hear and dance to,
from sun up to sun down.
Your music is your life,
clinging to you like the air you breathe.
That background melody
you tap your teeth to
and can't seem to shake from your mind.
Your music is your life,
pacing your steps forward, backward, and side to side.
It's that cosmic vibration seizing you,
and shaking you loose from all else,
and bringing you back to you.
Your music is your life,
something staying with you
longer than the longest cold.
Maybe it's Dylan's Blowin' in the Wind,
or Peter, Paul, and Mary's Puff the Magic Dragon.
Listen to your music.
It's your life telling you
what you've always known about yourself,
that no one else could possibly tell you.
Sing along and remember who you are.

This is wonderful! As a music teacher, anything about music is inportant to me. I may read this to my older classes next week. :)
Andrew...how wonderful. Feel free to share it. Thank you.
SONG OF THE HEART
There's a place where I can go,
where none say yes, none say no,
where there's neither right nor wrong,
Just the simplest, subtlest song.
Rob...thanks. Thought you'd relate to this poem.
wonderful, don!
music does tell a lot about a person. and though i've never considered music to be an important part of my life, there's always a tune that strikes a chord for whatever reason (good choice, dylan and ppm)
thank you!
Thanks Polona. We are our music and our music is us.
Great message Don. There is music in everything......A question to ask myself what is my song????
Dumbdodi...thanks. Your song is the one your heart plays non-stop.
Love this poem Don....
especially your last line...
sing along and remember who you
are.
I always do sing along
and remember who I am!
Thanks Don!
You are great!

All the best to you!
I've been reading your wonderful poems but this is my first time posting.
This is great! I especially love the last 5 lines. Most of the time, the songs that I like have meanings that I can relate to. Sometimes only I know but sometimes I share it with people who can relate to that song ,too. Thanks!
P/S: Hope to share this with my English class too.
