Return to Campus
By Don Iannone

Eyes closed, sitting
while my uplifted face fills with Tucson sun
on a warm December morning.
Mind wondering back...to 1969,
when I was here before.
A U of A student then, and
still a student, and
always a student...of life.
Innocent then. Well maybe not
as much so as I think.
Young then, and full of myself, and yes
still somewhat full of myself, but
now older and filled with other aspects of life.
It's magical to sit in the same place
you sat 37 years ago, observing life
from a different place in life's river.
It's wonderful to be reminded
on a park bench on campus
that your soul is still young.

Hi Don, more Synchronicity

I'm just watching a sereies on British TV - "Life on Mars"
(a bit like quantum leap)

This guy wakes up thity something years ago - as he walks by he sees reflections in glass of thirty something years later, and of course on the radio in the curry house - he can hear songs from thirty years later.

Makes you wonder does it not.
At Trinity Great Court and Trinity Chapel I sometimes stand and behold the very same stones that Newton looked at hundreds of years ago - unchanged (preserved)
Strange to return to places where one walked thirty years ago, the place totally changed - stranger still those places 'unchanged'

Are we here are we now
can we be somewhere somehow
walking the same streets as ghosts of yesterday, like walking past strangers today in our busy lives

I haven't thought of it that way -- thanks. That's a good way to look at it. :)

Hey folks...thanks for the comments. Trips backwards are often trips forward. Life does have an interesting way of working through us. Working on a business project in Tucson has given me an opportunity to re-experience the place I started college in the late 60s and early 70s. It's a neat thing. Actually, it's rather "poetic."

I know you had a great trip. I love to go to the U of A on my trips back to Tucson. I'll be there soon.
