Reading the Word of Kabbalah
By Don Iannone

I read the words
and they jolted me
like raw lightning.
I read the words
and they moved through my veins
as life-sustaining blood.
I read the words
and they made my heart dance
and my mind go blank.
These are familiar experiences
known to me
from somewhere long ago.
A place I have been
and still am.
I know these words
and they know me.

Wow. It sounds like a wonderful "knowing".

Hey, have you started your class, Don? How is it? Do you plan on reporting on it here? I'd love to hear how it goes and what you think.

It is the echos of true human history, from the dawn of time to forever, the very essence of life itself, I think you will hear it well Don.

Enjoy it, it is a wonderful experience to have.

Thanks Serenity, Mike, Andrew, Jim, Starry Nights, and Dumbdodi.

I've just started my course on the Kabbalah. It's challenging to say the least but I feel some initial affinity. Mike, sure I can share some things from the class...probably will take poetic form.

For me, it's all about the mystical path...that is what attracts me to not only the Kabbalah but the same in many spiritual traditions. I seek a direct pipeline to the Holy. Stay tuned.

Great ending!!

Great! I definitely look forward to seeing the Kabbalah rendered into poetry. I can just see it now, each of the Sephirot considered in the first 10 lines of a Petrachan Sonnet, leaving you 4 lines to tie it all together. :)

I nearly bought a book on the Kabbalah on Monday. After reading your poem I wish I had bought it!

I like your ending very much: 'the words know me'.

I wish I had your talent for poetry.

Thanks Pat, Rob, and Mike. Rob, buy the book. Mike, you had me laugh. Pat, as you know...it's how it all ends in poetry or how to end it. Right?

Yah! I know these words Don... I have been here before...! Nice sharing...! Exquisite moments are these....

Thanks Polona and Kathleen. Kathleen...please explain your insight here. Thanks.

hmmmm... many many times I have read things ... or heard a single word of Truth that rang thru my beingness... bringing a familiarity that has no reason... taking me to a place where the words become me and I the words... just as you said... and tears come to my eyes... and I melt... the self is lost...

Don Iannone, D.Div., Ph.D. said...

Kathleen...thanks. And yes that is exactly it. Yes, the self is lost at moments like this and something much more grand appears...a sense of being a part of it all and a feeling of being loved by the universe. That makes losing the self all worthwhile.
