following spirit
By Don Iannone

the eagle flies in bliss
...soaring and diving
......following spirit to the very end
.........a place we all come to know
............eventually
...............in one way or another
.................and at one time or another.

unencumbered by divided mind
...the eagle's choice is always clear
......there is no choice
.........only following spirit in the wind
...........only soaring and diving
..............and eventually landing
.................to watch, wait, and listen for spirit.

Thanks Rob and Margie...what can I say? We are all eagles and soar and dive in response to spirit. Bless you.

I like how the form of your poem reminds me of flying and the broad expanse of an eagle's wings.

"unencumbered by divided mind
the eagle's choice is always clear/there is no choice" interesing....

Beyond divided mind, soaring.

I watched a documentary on a pair of Black Eagles in South Africa.
They double brooded and ended up with three eaglets in two nest.

They chased the oldest chick away from the first nest and it was eaten by a caracal while it was unguarded.

In the second nest the eaglet #2 killed the third one (which they always do) and the mother ate the remains.

Then the eaglet #2 succumbed to the heat and died because it was born too late in the season.

In the end the mating pair did fly around and soar and followed spirits in the wind.
You would have never known what they had just been through.

Don..not only does the beauty of your poetry make me think, but it also always inspires emotion; I suppose exactly the intent of poetry. Your words bring a gentleness and peace and serenity to my day. Blessings.

Its amazing how different creatures teach we humans so many things. We have so much to learn from each of their attributes.
Focus and Ambition from an Eagle.

Dumbdodi...thanks. Every creature is indeed a teacher. They are all parts of us that eventually we discover...
