Poetic Brush Strokes
By Don Iannone

1
morning snowfall
...mind drifts
......peace falls

2
white birches
...snow-covered limbs
......inspiration takes root

3
rustling leaves
...barren tree branches
…...skies gray in winter

I especially like #3 - much closer to the haiku ideal, with direct references to nature; no metaphysics, no interpretation, no overt spirituality.

It also has this hint of confusedness because of the reference to both rustling leaves and barren branches (and winter, which tends to point toward barrenness being the actual state of affairs).

Don no matter how hard your poetry tries to glorify winter, I am still gonna dread it. Having said that you did warm me up a bit for the upcoming winter.

Thanks Mike, Dumbdodi...

Mike...it's a progression from rustling leaves to barren branches to inspiration.

Dumbdodi...we have to get ready here. Things start to chill in Sept-Oct.

I know many would find it hard to believe, but I miss those winter moments.

Thanks Kathleen...yes winter, but a season, needs no reason, a state of mind, reflecting us.

Don, it would be my second winter in UK. This time it would be worse as I have moved up north to Manchester, last year I was near London.
