Roads We Climb
By Don Iannone
with Dan Shimp

Returning to where we came from
...we discover
that not all roads in hometown Martins Ferry
...are we ready to climb.
Some we try
...and discover
...we can't find traction
...and must go back
...to where we started.
Like that one steep gravel road
...we tried our best to drive up
...but found we just couldn't.
Some places we'll never see
...at least for now
...and maybe
...we were not supposed to
...in the first place.
Other roads await us.
These are the roads
we must climb.
These are the roads
always meant for us.

This post is right up my street. I feel the need to find new paths at the moment.

This is one of many things that Anonymous Dharma Dan and I discovered in our return together to our hometown, Martins Ferry, Ohio. Dan and I had not been together in Ferry for over 40 years.

It was a wonderful adventure. Not one many folks get to experience together with a childhood friend.

I second the emotion!

Dan...but we could've walked up that road, as did in the early 1960s. Right?

We certainly could have!
