How We Are
Reflections from Martins Ferry
By Don Iannone

Wanting
...something better
...than what you have.
Having
...already
...something better
...than you ever knew.
Searching
...always
...for whatever you don't have.
Only to find
...what you have
...is right for you.

Tao Te Ching says something along the lines of "Where you are is the perfect place for you at the moment".

I like it, but the conclusion that "what you have is right for you" rings true for me only if I set aside issues of social justice.

In a "past life," I spent much time in Martin's Ferry on my way to Bridgeport and Wheeling and Moundsville.

Darius,

Thanks for your comment. Social justice is indeed very important.
