The Chased Deer

A white-tailed deer is chased
through the forest
by a ravenous coyote.

The animals streak past me,
breaking my early morning
silent meditation.

It is a narrow escape
for the deer, and
another hungry night for the coyote.

This reminds me how
fear chases us through life,
even where we find deep peace.
