Friday Thought: Don't Be Afraid to Revise

Because poetry is so personal, we resist
revising our words at times. Sometimes
we get it right the first time, but mostly
it takes at least 2 or 3 revisions to turn
out a poem so that it does what you
want it to do.

The same applies to our lives at a
micro and macro level. We fret making
changes in ourselves because it is so
"personal." We shouldn't fear making
revisions--that is what "creating a life"
is all about.

You are the architect designing your
own life, which you will live in. Don't be
afraid to revise that floor plan, upgrade
the materials used in the supporting
beams, and making any other changes
that make your life, like a poem, more
lyrical, expressive, inspiring, and otherwise
beautiful.
