Promises
By Don

Promises,
weathered by time,
slip away,
if not renewed.

Promises,
fettered in the distant past,
fade away like clouds,
if no longer relevant.

Promises,
like ships without anchors,
allow us to drift
away from our word.

Promise yourself one thing,
that nothing stays the same,
give while you can,
and never over-promise.
