Late Summer Garden Signs
By Don
Butterflies
in sun bonnets,
lazily dance
in the chilly morning air,
A handsome warty toad,
hiding under leaves,
readies himself
for breakfast,
Petal-less flowers
stand like naked sailors on deck
waiting for orders,
Somehow,
the summer escapes
our grasp.
