Trouble Till the End
By Don Iannone

The trouble with life
is most of us live it
fearing its inevitable end.
The trouble with death
isn't dying, but
thinking we can escape it.
The trouble with time
is the fiction it writes
all over our lives.
The trouble with expectations
is they drag you screaming
from the moment, where
the only peace exists, and
where you always end up
until the last moment
passes through you.

So true! Fear controls many moments of our life, if only we'd learn ; )

lol! Travis - love it

We can't avoid bad weather
or bills thru the letter box

but they are only trouble
if we let them trouble us

Don, Great!

but I'm gonna go two ways:
the young don't think of death
they can't even comprehend no life

the elder are aware of death
one cannot ignore it, everyday is someone's funeral ...

and everyday is someone's birthday
some 'new' is born.

Me I'm like the Egyptians
I spend a lot of time thinking in the afterlife, after all one is going to spend a lot of time dead.

But, that does not mean I enjoy life, life the university of life, is just another school day ...
hope I get a good report at the end of the day, or end of term - lol!

Thanks all for your insightful comments. Isn't poetry amazing? It torments alive until we reach inside ourselves and fetch up ideas festering in our souls...
