along a deep forest trail
By Don Iannone

penetrating
deep green
woodland forest
hemlocks and oaks tower
high above.
pine needle floor rises up
like an excited green phoenix
wild
beyond control
without reason
unrelenting
in her campaign to be free of all
even the golden-yellow sun
that trickles
through near impenetrable green.
there a new beginning erupts
like a galaxy of stars
naked
without expectation
only a heart to guide
its unfolding.
there upon the forest floor
a single seed falls
and life once again
begins.

Nice. Gets at how beautifully trees manifest the splendor of sheer being.

  9. Dear Don, it was so green and luscious like a forest itself.
    'a single seed falls
    and life once again
begins.', we feel to see that life is all around us.We sometimes forget about other elements of nature. Thanks for reminding us of them

  10. Allegorical too (as all nature, and some poems, are).

  11. I've always felt an affinity for nature poetry (hence my love of Whitman, Emerson, and Thoreau's writing), and this was a pleasure to read. I love your ending, "a single seed falls / and life once again / begins." So apt.

Allegory is there, Dan, So right.

Mike, Whitman is also a favorite of mine.

Dumbdodi...we are all seeds dropped along the path.

    Blessings to all.

  16. As usual, lovely, I see you are always striving for the fresh, the new, the born again, the rejuvenated...that makes a new Eden of the old that we in our foolishness have polluted....

  17. Plus Ultra...thank you. Indeed the fresh allows us to refresh. May we bow in humbleness our Mother the Earth. In her all is possible. Without her, we are naked and dead.
