Moving On
By Don Iannone
Let yourself go,
in ways you never have before.
Gather your power,
within the seat of your soul.
Unleash the real you,
the one that has been hiding in the cellar.
The one dying to be you,
the one that almost died--
for want of validation.
Don't wait till you're too old,
and it takes all you have
just to fetch the newspaper--
from the front porch
you spend too much time sitting on.
Remember...
just because it's familiar doesn't make it right.
And please don't look back,
you might see the ghosts
you left for a real life.
Very good.
ReplyDeleteI really like this.

ReplyDeleteI repeat, yet again, Karl Renz's remonstration:
ReplyDelete"You cannot not be what you are. So be that!"

ReplyDeletePolona...thanks and have a nice weekend.
ReplyDeleteahhh... the trap of "validation"... oh so true!
ReplyDeleteKathleen...thanks.
ReplyDeleteValidation can be a trap, but a fun trap too. Blogging for most people is a way to validate others and be validated.
Remembering can be a form of validation, especially memories that are painful and need integration.
Listening eyes that hear another's soul without wanting to change or control it provide validation. A gentle hand that brushes away a sorrowful tear can also help validate.
Those words shook me.
ReplyDeleteHi Anna...thanks. Blessings.
ReplyDeleteThe one dying to be you, the one that almost died-I do feel that we all have more than one 'Self' in us which make us a whole. But we have the choice of bringing or not bringing them out.
ReplyDeleteDumbdodi...several stories our lives do tell that add to our richness. Blessings.
